Amy and Orson Fackrell Divorce

I was looking through the old historical papers still here in the family and found a gem among them, dated 26 February 1935. It is a copy of the divorce decree from Amy Eliza Walker and Orson Fackrell. As the judge was an H. R. Christmas, I imagine Orson referred to the divorce as his Christmas present! But more treasured is paragraph 3 of the findings, “That the defendant has offered to the plaintiff such indignities as to render his condition, as her husband, intolerable.” It is not the kind of thing that comes up in conversation when one is related to the “her” in this situation! I seem to remember he was pretty serious about this drinking, though, and can easily imagine that her trying to get him to slow down is what was intolerable.
